The Full Story
In 2003, MD/MBA program directors of the (then) 39 dual degree programs in the US began meeting annually in order to build ties, share experience and to help new programs to prosper from lessons learned. In the 2007 annual meeting of MD-MBA programs the Association of MD MBA Professionals (formerly Association of MD MBA Programs) was officially incorporated and established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the IRS.

Mission
Our organization serves as a source of information and expertise to universities, programs, students, graduates, residents, fellows, healthcare professionals and the public. We are a national network among innovators within the medical field. As such our mission is to foster the collaboration necessary amongst healthcare innovators, physicians and business professionals to contribute to positive change within the broken system of contemporary healthcare.
Our Vision
Our goal is to become an important resource association for dual degree holders (MD/MBA) to find jobs, information on conferences and forums to discuss health care management and policy. We will be a platform through which mentor/mentee relationships may be established. We will position ourselves as a “think tank” - a body of experts and healthcare leaders advising politicians and businesses on strategy, logistics, and vision for healthcare.
We envision the long-term impact to be large-scale projects, non-profits, entrepreneurial ventures, municipal and large-scale policy change, and more, stemming from the relationships created through the AMMP. MD/MBA professionals have a unique skill set in that they possess both business acumen and first-hand experience within the clinical space; the presence of a cohesive professional network will maximize the potential application of said skills.
